This is my first exercise-based fundraiser, which is pretty incredible since my natural state is indoor cat: nap loving, food driven, and only sprinting when startled. Instead of napping this spring however,  I am logging miles for cancer research through the Expect Miracles Foundation Distance Challenge.

Cancer took my dad when I was 17, and his absence has shaped how I show up in the world ever since. This challenge is also to honor him: one out-of-breath mile at a time.

So, if you see me moving more than usual, please know it’s powered by equal parts love, memory, and the spirit of someone who would normally choose to sit rather than stand.
