I am participating in the Expect Miracles Foundation because this cause is deeply personal to me. Three years ago, my mom was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer—a very rare and highly aggressive form of cancer. Since her diagnosis, her life has been significantly impacted, including undergoing three surgeries to remove tumors. She has chosen not to pursue radiation due to the effect it would have on her quality of life at her age, and instead continues with regular monitoring, going for scans every three months, with our next one in June. I am hopeful that continued investment in cancer research will lead to new treatments and cures, especially for rare and aggressive cancers like hers, so families like mine can continue to hold onto hope for better options and more time together.
