In addition to being a childhood cancer survivor myself, I have lost two grandparents to pancreatic cancer since April 2023. I understand firsthand the devastation cancer can cause in someone's life and family, but also consider myself lucky to have faced leukemia as a kindergartener rather than a college student or a working young adult when it would have been much more disruptive to my life and responsibilities. I am supporting EMF in particular because of their SAMFund program, which is a highly-targeted deployment of funds to young adult cancer survivors so they can rebuild their lives after beating cancer. Since 2019, 2,600 grants totaling nearly $4.5 million dollars have been awarded to young adults as they recover from the financial impact of cancer.
