Biking to Beat Cancer
Friday 3rd May
Why I ride
I am back again for the second year in the 2024 Distance Challenge through the Expect Miracles Foundation (EMF). EMF raises money to support three funds:
1) The Discovery Fund at Dana Farber in Boston invests in cancer research and aims to accelerate the discovery and development of the next generation of targeted and immune based therapies while integrating academic and industry research to drive clinical trials and improve patients lives.
2) The Innovation Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC which supports the research and development of treatment for metastatic cancers and to detect disease at early stages.
3) The SAM Fund which provides financial assistance to young adult cancer survivors.
We unfortunately are all affected by cancer in some way, whether it’s watching a loved one battle through it, a loss, a survival, a worry, or battling it ourselves. I am biking for all of the above and will continue to do what I can to support, to fight, and to raise money to find a cure. To Tim, Annie, Uncle Peter, and all of the other wonderful family members and friends that we’ve lost along the way to this disease, you are missed so much. And to Kathy, we are so lucky to have you here today. And to all of you currently battling a cancer or watching a loved one battle through it, I see you and I’m riding for you. Cancer sucks, LFG!!!
